INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY

L'International Museum Day è una iniziativa che viene celebrata dal 1977. E' ormai tradizione che molti musei partecipino prolungando l'orario di apertura e offrendo l'ingresso gratuito. Ogni anno l'International Council of Museums (ICOM) sceglie un tema portante.

Quest'anno le attività con il pubblico si sono decisamente arricchite in linea con il tema: "Museums: agents of social change and development". E 200 musei sono incoraggiati a creare opportunità di coinvolgimento e attività con le associazioni che si occuperanno di sviluppo e miglioramento nel sociale. ICOM (International Council of Museum) userà Internet per invitare al Tech Museum of Innovation di San José e la tecnologia virtuale di "Second Life [qui il pdf]"per coinvolgere la maggiorparte dei musei alla manifestazione.

The International Museum Day has been celebrated since 1977. Traditionally, many museums participate by offering free admission and extended opening hours. Each year, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) selects a theme. In light of this year’s theme ("Museums: agents of social change and development") 200 museums are also encouraged to create new opportunities for social gatherings and events with community organizations and associations as well as to participate in a 24-hour debate on social change and development. ICOM is also using the Internet at the invitation of the Tech Museum of Innovation of San José and "Second Life [pdf]" virtual technology to get more museums involved in the celebration.
